Hold on ! Might also be a flop. We’ll wait and see.

Luka Jovic joined Real Madrid following a particularly outstanding season with Eintrach Frankfurt, scoring 27 goals in 48 games. A season where Jovic made a name for himself, leading the German attack to a spectacular run in the Europa League, eliminating Inter and creating a real buzz in the competition before getting knocked out by Chelsea (who for the record went on to win it).

It was safe to say at the time of his arrival that Real Madrid’s board and supporters were expecting something big.

During his time at Benfica, Jovic was considered too young and needed further development. He obviously had what it takes to succeed but needed playing time

that Benfica was not ready to allow him. For that purpose, he was loaned out closer to home, to Eintracht Frankfurt to play in the German Bundesliga.

As mentioned above, one season was all it took for Luka to shine at the higher levels. The Serbian sensation, 21 year old at the time, was the central piece to Eintracht Frankfurt’s memorable season.

Given that his contract with Benfica had a 60M release clause, it was just a matter of time before a European Giant snatched him up.

Once at Real Madrid, however, Luka Jovic has been anything but himself.

Over the course of his first season, he has so far played 770 (over 24 games), very often starting on the bench, scoring only twice and assisting two goals.

Needless to say that Luka Jovic is yet to prove that he has what it takes to play for the most succesful club in the world.
